All permitted development has undergone the scrutiny of the relevant regulatory agencies (e.g. TCDPO, Environmental Protection Department, and the CZMU). The submission of an environmental impact assessment by the developer is a basic requirement. All land-based sources of marine pollution fall under the strict control of the Environmental Protection Department (EPD).

Incident wave

A wave moving landward.

Current, Littoral

Any current in the littoral zone caused primarily by wave action; e.g., longshore current, rip current.

Wave Rose

Diagram showing the long-term distribution of wave height and direction.

Berm Breakwater

Rubble mound structure with horizontal berm of armor stones at about sea level, which is allowed to be (re)shaped by the waves.

Rill Marks

Tiny drainage channels in a beach caused by the flow seaward of water left in the sands of the upper part of the beach after the retreat of the tide or after the dying down of storm waves.

Marker, survey

An object placed at the site of a station to identify the surveyed location of that station.
