Closeup of an anemone on one of the shipwrecks in Carlisle Bay, St. Michael. Anemones are predominantly found attached to rocks or other surfaces and are closely related to corals and jellyfish. These marine animals ensnare their prey in their tentacles which are equipped with stinging barbs. Some anemone species also live symbiotically with microscopic green algae (just like corals) which provide the anemones with nutrients derived via photosynthesis.
